AI is evolving fast, but here’s the real question! Does it truly get us? We’re a software company specializing in customer support solutions powered by the right Chat AI and LLM (Large Language Model) technology. But what makes an AI truly right? It’s not just about answering questions it’s about understanding us.

So, I put DeepSeek AI and ChatGPT through a round of testing not just for fun, but to see if they understand something deeper: our local languages.

As a country as diverse as India, where multiple languages thrive, let’s be real! not everyone speaks English. Imagine using an e-commerce app with an AI support system. If it can’t understand your language, how useful is it, really?

So, I decided to find out which AI actually speaks our language. And the results? Well, let’s just say one of them totally won me over as my new AI bestie! 😆

ChatGPT vs. DeepSeek AI: Chat Showdown! 

Round 1: Testing AI’s Diagnosis Skills

To kick things off, I asked DeepSeek AI and ChatGPT, “What are the causes of fever?” because, to be honest, I was actually down with one! LOL.

Both AIs gave me detailed responses, but just like everyone else, AI too had to freak me out by casually listing cancer as a possible cause! 😨 Hoping this was just a fluke, I asked ChatGPT the same question, and guess what? It also dropped cancer into the mix. That definitely wasn’t the reassurance I was looking for! So, I decided to push both AIs further.

Round 2: The Local Lingo Test

After the fever scare, I decided to switch things up and see how well these AIs handle local language variations. So, I threw them a casual question in Tamil:

My Prompt: “நீ என்ன பெரிய டாக்டரா?” (Are you some big-shot doctor?)

DeepSeek AI, as expected, played it safe with a structured, polite response:

Meanwhile, ChatGPT totally got the vibe and responded like a proper local:

It nailed the tone, but here’s the fun part! ChatGPT also slipped in some spelling mistakes here and there! Still, even with the typos, it kept up the flow of a natural conversation.

This round? A clear win for ChatGPT in terms of vibe, but DeepSeek AI stuck to being the overly formal, ever-serious assistant.

Round 3: The Casual Chat Test

By this point, I was seriously curious can these AIs really keep up with a chill conversation? So, I decided to keep it super casual and just replied:

My Response: “Right da.”

DeepSeek AI, being its usual formal self, stuck to the script:

DeepSeek AI: “நன்றி! 😊 உங்களுக்கு வேறு ஏதேனும் கேள்விகள் இருந்தால்… மேலும் தகவல்கள் தேவைப்பட்டால் கேளுங்கள்! 👍”

Basically, the AI version of a customer care rep. Polite, helpful… but zero personality.

Then there was ChatGPT still vibing with me like a proper local:

It got the flow perfectly! No awkward formality, no robotic replies just straight-up natural conversation.

At this point, it was clear, DeepSeek AI was like that one friend who takes everything too seriously, while ChatGPT? It just rolled with the vibe.

Round 4: The Tamil Movie Dialogue Test

By now, I had to know can these AIs really catch cultural references? So, I went full Kollywood mode and threw in the iconic line:

My Prompt: “என்ன குமுதா, வார்த்தை தடிக்கிது?”

DeepSeek AI, still in its ever-formal zone, hit me with:

Bro… what? 🤦‍♂️ Clearly, DeepSeek had no clue this was a movie dialogue.

ChatGPT, on the other hand, was already deep in the vibe:

At this point, I was already having too much fun. ChatGPT had earlier said “வேறென்ன வேணும், சொல்றா!” and that had already triggered me to push it even more. Now, after this response, it was just clear DeepSeek AI understands words, but ChatGPT? It gets the vibe. 😆

Round 5: Do You Know Each Other?

By now, I was deep into this AI banter, and a funny thought crossed my mind do these AIs even know about each other? Time to find out!

So, I casually asked DeepSeek AI:

And, as expected, it went full-on Wikipedia mode:

That’s the difference right there—one AI just delivers information, while the other makes sure you feel it.

✦ DeepSeek AI? Feels like that one super-serious student who gives textbook-perfect answers.
✦ ChatGPT? More like the smart, street-savvy friend who tells it like it is—even if it randomly slips in another language. 😂

At this point, I was way too invested in this experiment. What else could I throw at them? 😆
